How Oura pricing actually works

An Oura Ring is two purchases: the ring, and a subscription that unlocks most of what the ring measures. On 09/28/2026 the Oura store listed the new Ring 5 at $399 for Black and Silver and $499 for Gold, Deep Rose, Stealth and Brushed Silver. Ring 4 started at $349 (Silver, Stealth) with Gold at $399, and the Gold and Stealth finishes showed a struck-through higher price, so Ring 4 is being marked down as Ring 5 arrives. Ring 4 Ceramic was $399.

The membership is $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US, with the first month free for new accounts. It is billed to the account, not the ring, so an upgrade later does not reset the free month. Without it the app shows only the three daily scores.

Monthly is $4.10 cheaper than annual in year one ($65.89 for 11 paid months against $69.99), because the annual charge that starts after the free month pays for a month of year two, and monthly lets you cancel if the ring ends up in a drawer. Over a full paid year annual saves $1.89 (12 x $5.99 is $71.88), so annual only wins if you are sure you will keep wearing it.

The cheapest honest path

1. Get a Refer a Friend link. Any current member can share one from the app; it takes 10% off Ring 5 or Ring 4 on the Oura store. It is the easiest discount to get, and it does not stack with anything else.
2. Check the verified-group discounts first if you qualify. Healthcare workers verified through ID.me get 30% off Ring 5 through 11/20/2026, which beats the referral link by a wide margin. Educators, first responders and students get 10% off Ring 4 models. Military and first responders can price it through GOVX. Oura says partner discounts apply to Ring 4 unless the offer says otherwise, so read which ring the discount covers.
3. Pay with pre-tax money. An HSA or FSA card at checkout is not a discount, but it is the same as paying with untaxed income. The card has to cover the entire order because the store will not split payment.
4. Take the free sizing kit. Oura’s sizes are whole numbers and differ from US jewelry sizes. Returns are free within 30 days, but you get one return or one exchange per item, and original shipping is not refunded, so it is cheaper to size right the first time.
5. Decide on the Extend plan at checkout, not later. The accidental-damage plan is $45 for two years or $60 for three, US only, one replacement per plan, and it cannot be added after purchase (the only workaround is returning the ring within 30 days and reordering with the plan). The standard warranty is one year and does not cover scratches or battery wear.

Exclusions and fees

• Only one discount per order. Site-wide sales such as Black Friday override partner discounts when they are better.
• The Refer a Friend discount works only on the Oura online store; Best Buy and other retailers set their own promotions and return rules.
• Expedited shipping was listed as not currently available (it is $35 when offered), and the help center carried a 09/27/2026 notice that US and Canada orders may ship up to five days late.
• If you return the ring, cancel the membership yourself in the app or the Membership Hub, or the billing continues.

What the data is good for

Oura’s own Ring 5 page claims 99% heart-rate accuracy against ECG (an r-squared figure) and 95% sleep-staging accuracy against a sleep lab, and its footnote says the 95% is two-stage scoring, asleep versus awake; treat those as the brand’s numbers. The peer-reviewed evidence is narrower. A 2024 validation of the Gen3 ring against multi-night polysomnography in 96 adults (Svensson et al., Sleep Medicine) found no significant difference from polysomnography for total sleep time, time in bed, sleep-onset latency and time in light and deep sleep, with sleep-staging accuracy between 75.5% (light) and 90.6% (REM) and specificity for wake of about 73 to 75%. The authors disclosed Oura funding. A separate 2022 study of 35 healthy adults (Cao et al., JMIR) found the ring’s overnight heart rate and RMSSD (the HRV number the app shows) closely tracked a chest ECG. The practical reading: the ring is good at how long and when you slept and at overnight heart rate and HRV trends, and it is weaker at scoring exact stages or catching the minutes you lay awake. Use it to spot trends across weeks, not to diagnose anything; the readiness and stress scores are wellness features, and anything that looks like a medical signal belongs with a clinician.

What changed since this site started

When this site launched in 2011 its tracker coupons were for pedometers, BodyBugg armbands and the clip-on Fitbit Ultra. Oura’s model, hardware plus a subscription, means the coupon question has changed too: the ring discount is small and gated, and the recurring $70 a year is where the money goes over time.
